Who we are?

Our team was made up of 19 members. All the students came from grade10 or grade11. Besides, there were also two biology teachers , one chemistry teacher joined our team. All we had in common was the deep love and interest in biology. Of course, everyone in our group must be fond of hands-on experiment and biological knowledge. We have made our team’s decision on the project. Although sometimes the procedure is very troublesome and we have to do some frustrating works, nobody complains or gives up. We really enjoy the process of finishing the project, not the consequence. Everyone aspire to the happiness of the groupwork , the communication, the cooperation. And we prefer to design a synthetic bacteria which is useful to human’s daily life.

Our weekly activity is on Tuesday and Wednesday. The funniest 2 days at school. Hope everything will be favourable during the next step of our working.

I’m very outgoing and good at getting along with others. My hobby is watching movies, playing tennis…And my motto is just like the sentence from <The Pursuit of Happyness>:You got a dream, you got to protect it. You want some,go to get it. There is an I in "happiness",There is no Y in "happiness",It's an I. So I believe we could win only if we do our best!

Shen Meizhang

Age: 16 Birthday: 09.21.1996 Hobby: basketball, table tennis, badminton, books, international chess

I am always outgoing and I like to be friends with others. There are many challenges in our life and I prefer to face all the challenges with a light heart. My teacher taught me that we should all be the calm attitude towards any time to be awake to solve the problem. Because of this method, I have had a lot of new experience and feeling. A person is not everything, it’s easier to finish the difficult work if I ask for help from my partner.

Jane

Hi! My name is Jane.

I’m 16. I’m living in Beijing. I like to meet new friends. Sometimes my friends think I’m a little bite crazy. But do not scientists have a little crazy? Ha! Just for fun. I like biology very much. Tennis is my favorite sport. My favorite tennis player is Novak Djokovic. I think if we have a dream we have to strive for it.


My Idea: Use of new synthetic gene of E. coli to detect pesticide residues on fruits and vegetables are exceeded. Implanted fluorescent protein in E. coli, and make a detector connected thereto. If pesticide residues exceeding the fluorescent protein start fluoresce. Fruits and vegetables through the water soaked into the cell to detect whether excessive. If this study success can replace some of the market of " Pesticide residue speed measuring device " can make use of people to save time and money.

Hey, everybody, my name is Andy.

I am from class 1 grade 10. I join the iGEM team of HW. Why did I make this choice. One of the reason is that I can learn something not only about Synthetic Biology but also useful for my future life. People here are friendly and kindly. And I am glad to be here for this introduction about myself. For real, I am not good at biology before. But I promise I will study hard in the team. Math and English are my favorite subjects. And Harvard is the college of my dream of. As for my spare time, I’d like to play basketball and play games. And I wish we can keep a great relationship with others in the team. In a relationship, there are certain considerations or factors that people will into account in a very serious way. Like some might care more about mutual wishing certain virtue are with the people we are dealing with. So I hope we can do better in the team.

My name is Gong Heyi, a student from GAC G123. My scores in my class is neither very high nor very low, but I have a really strong sense of interest in biology, for my parent are both teachers in the department of biology in CAU. I like to talk, maybe I talk all the time and just can not stop. I am good at making friends who are next to me to laugh. My favorite sport is tennis, but now I seldom go and play basketball in order to make myself healthier. I don’t like to read books; I only read books which I like to read. PROJECT IDEA
IDEA1:
This product design for those person who shy to express their feeling.
This product has the following two parts, the first part is a group of bacteria can be implanted in the body (no harm to the human body, do not break any balance of the body), this group of bacteria after implantation into the human body can feel all the information in your body (for example: can feel the lead to upset Mela Donen too much or happy when dopamine is the information), then they will this information to the second part of the main information -- bacteria (packed in glass bottles), the main information of bacteria as those bacteria population, through his experience different information transfer from bacteria may reflect
IDEA2：
The basic idea of our project is to creat a Synthetic measurement toolkit for the precise quantification of UV and radioactive radiation . UV radiation and radioactivity are two natural radiation types we get in contact with every day. In low doses, UV and radioactive radiation are mostly harmless to cells ,besides, people can supplement vitamin D from UV radiation. Nevertheless, when exceeding a certain dose, it may bring a lot of problems ,such as:
1) weaken the immune system of human
2) increased risk of skin cancer, cataracts
3）make a depth damage in gene
Recently, due to artificial chemical substances such as CFC (Freon) continued destroy the ozone layer. UV increasing the threaten to human. therefore，we decide to make a Synthetic measurement toolkit for the precise quantification of UV and radioactive radiation .Andthis toolkit needs to be simple. Cheap and highly sensitive

My Idea: Improving Marine Environment..
Serious oil pollution of the ocean, destroys the ecological balance of the oceans . This layer of oil film separates the atmosphere and seawater, it will interfere the dissolved oxygen in seawater, decrease the amount of oxygen. At the same time, the oil film avoids marine plants photosynthesis , and marine animals will die due to the O2 lack. If we could find a substance bacteria that can not only tolerate salinity and can buoy on the water, but also can provide marine creatures a new photosynthesis occasion, like fluoresce, or something else. And that the creatures will not suffer such a severe situation.
