Notebook
The 1st - 4th weeks
In the 1st -4thweeks, we have shared information about the past university team and tried to find the direction of our project.
The 1st week
Our first meeting was on the 26th of February, 2013. We elected Yuhan Wu as our captain, and we plan to start our project. Everyone prepare the introduction of IGEM and synthetic biology in paper, and the self introduction with letters and photos.
The 2nd week
Everyone registered and our team is now valid online. Jinglun Fang introduced a project of the Zhejiang university which was about the RNA scafford. However, most of us believed it was too micro and therefore was unsuitable for us to continue the discussion on certain realm. Then MeizhangShen showed us something about last year’s champion project of the high-school team, which was about the inspection of the heavy metals in the water. (Maybe this is one of our direction of research)
The 3rd week
Team member Gejingwa Zhao first introduced a project from UCL which is about the degradation of plastic in sea water. She also presented a project about Inspection of carbon monoxide. (CO +certain bacteria=banana smell) Then, team member Xueyang Men talked about several direction of the projects which include Bacteria attracts pests, Esophagus digestion and clean-up, Bio-pharmaceutical synthesis, catalyst of oil fractionation, the improvement of the yogurt preservation techniques, and the bacteria which disseminates peppermint odor in order to make people excited and get up. After that, team member Chuheng Zhang made presentation about the test of specific bacteria within the aquarium and test of the monosaccharide and disaccharide content of the certain patient.
The 4th week

And we did come up with some great ideas!
The 5th - 7th weeks
In the 5th -7th weeks, everyone propose his or her projects, study the theory and method of synthetic biology. And the UV project was confirmed as the project of our team.
The 5th week
The KIT had arrived and we learned how to find certain DNA sample. We are now starting to do the project. Everyone has his/her own idea and we tried to choose the best one!
The 6th week
we learned the theory and method about the 3A assembly by watching a radio and teacher explanation. Most of members think the UV project proposed by shiyue Liu was available and easy to implement.
The 7th week
We read and discuss the UV project 2012, then designed the experiment. In consequence, we think want to make a special bacteria that will can generate an odor under UV light. We choose banana odor and wintergreen odor.
The 8th - 9th weeks
The 8th -11th week, we start to operating the experiment, prepare wiki, detail the method of our project.
The 8th week
We have grew the Part A in 3A assembly in the plate. We have tried to speak out the method of operating the experiment in English.
The 9th week
We pike the single colony to the LB liquid medium. Somebody has collected the introduction of team members, somebody has written the project, the others has designed the team sign.We choose the detailed part in registry distribution, BBa_J22106, BBa_J45119, BBa_J45199, BBa_45200. Confirm the locations of these parts in the plate, the method of dissolve the DNA of these parts.
