- Hailing from across the pond (the small pond – Irish Sea) Dr Burke is a microbiologist with a passion for pathogenesis. She completed her degree in Dublin and then moved onto a PhD in the field of preventative medicine, studying the superbug Staphylococcus aureus and later continued on as a postdoctoral research assistant again looking at MRSA.
