The Team

Paul-Enguerrand Fady

A 17 year old medic-to-be, hoping to study either at Cambridge University or McGill. Currently greatly enjoying the extension of syllabus that is iGEM. Lover of both sciences and languages - being bilingual helping in that respect - he is currently studying spanish as well as all sciences and maths. Particular interests within science include the way in which the immune system functions, as well its interactions with both the self and pathogens; in this vein, he defended a poster on the genetic causes of autoimmune disorders at the Annual Sino-British Science Confernce. He spends his spare time reading, writing and wasting countless hours on video games.

Joe Levin
A “quiet” , “introvert” 17 year old, currently studying at St Paul’s School in west London. Joe is known affectionately by the team as ‘matron’ for his benign and kind manner - always there to offer a thoughtful word of support for a team member in difficulty. Outside of school, Joe is an active and passionate member of the illustrious debating society - he speaks at competitions nationwide representing the school. Ever the stickler for detail, iGEM is proving to be a great challenge and he is learning a lot from the competition - it’s introducing him to whole new areas of biology. Joe has interests in and he hopes to go on to study biology or biochemistry at university. In his free time he likes to watch TV serials and eat chocolate.
Freddie Wilkinson
A verbose 17 year-old with a stereotypically English accent who has lived in London all his life. Enjoys reading books about almost any topic and whose early TV diet primarily consisted of an eclectic mix of David Attenborough and Monty Python. As well as a flautist and a singer, he is a lover of all things ornithological. In the autumn term, he delves into sport with a bit of rugby. Partial to trips to the theatre and opera, he is fascinated with most things he encounters and, if he can, spends most of his spare time bird watching and beekeeping. An avid follower of current affairs who is prepared to discuss pretty much anything, he is thoroughly enjoying the rigour of iGEM and the challenges it poses - even though it means spending less time bird watching, being opinionated, singing Armstrong and Miller songs a bit too loudly, eating chocolate and generally ensuring that he never endears himself to his family.
Guy Kirkpatrick
Yet another 17-year-old budding medic from London who enjoys a normal and healthy mix of education, television, good food and plasmid restriction digestion. Guy is fascinated by all neuropsychological phenomena, for example NLP, and is an enthusiastic musician, playing both the saxophone and the cello. He has interests in areas such as drama, martial arts, volunteering, and the magnificent and sublime sport that is squash. He feels ready and willing to take on the challenge that is iGEM, and hopes that, in the midst of all the inevitable chaos, he does not lose sight of the perspective that one cannot simply play God. Or can they...?
