Team's Logo
The team’s logo is an animated E.coli wearing a hat, making reference to the field of application that our project is based on: agriculture. It’s common to relate a hat to agriculture because farmers usually wear them, to protect their faces from the sun. The DNA drawn at the left side replaces de “i“ from iGEM, while the “M“ contains a mustache, which was put in to show the stereotype of us, Mexicans, in a benign way. The small worm invading the “M“ is the white worm that our bacteria is attacking.

Our Bacteria: Vip-thor
A common name in Mexico is Victor. We named our bacteria Vip-thor because the protein we are using as an insecticide is called Vip3ca3, (Vegetative Insecticidal Protein), so we replaced the “Vic“ with “Vip“ and ended with “thor“ because of Thor, in Norse mythology, is a god associated with several powers that protect mankind. Vip-thor eliminates the white worm plague in crops, especially potato, protecting the crop and therefore us, too.

Our school's logo
The team emblem is composed of representative elements of our state and our school. The red lion appears in the State emblem, located in the upper right box. It symbolizes vigilance, authority, magnanimity and sovereignty. The torch that the lion holds with its forelegs, is a symbol of UANL, where CIDEB, our high school, belongs to. The motto of the flame is "Alere flammam veritatis", which closest menaing is "altert the fire of truth".
